         Our 4-Point Assessment Process:

1. Structural Integrity: We check for "included bark" (weak V-shaped crotches), trunk decay, and root heaving that could lead to failure.
2. Deadwood Identification: Locating limbs that are no longer receiving nutrients. These are entry points for pests and pose a falling hazard.
3. Canopy Density: We evaluate how much wind can pass through the tree. A "sail" effect during Minnesota storms is a leading cause of uprooted trees.
4. Disease Screening: We look for early signs of Oak Wilt, Emerald Ash Borer, or Dutch Elm Disease that might require specific timing or treatment.

Oaks - Late Fall To Early Spring 

To prevent Oak Wilt, Oaks should never be pruned between April and July when beetles are active. 

Maples/Birches - Late Fall / Winter

These are "bleeders." Pruning in late winter prevents excessive sap loss. 

Evergreens - Later Winter / Early Summer

Usually require minimal trimming, but late winter is best for structural shaping. 

Fruit Trees - Late Winter

Pruning while dormant encourages a heavy fruit crop in the summer.
